Johannes has pioneered new frontiers with the guitar surfing soundcurrents on his Guitalimba, a fusion instrument he commisioned Miroslav Tadic guitarist of the grandmothers to build in 2007. The instrument was based on his experiments with sympathetic resonance between an african thumb piano and a guitar. Using a kalimba as a slide Johannes discovered he could summon sitar like blossoming sounds from his guitar and immediately began scribbling notes that led to the construction of the Guitalimba. The instrument is a combination of a hand drum, zither and a thumb piano. Together the components of this instrument create otherworldy resonance. Johannes has performed and taught guitar in the Boulder/Denver area. His music is hypnotic yet energizing drawing upon a myriad of inspiration; Indian, African, Balinese, Electronic to name a few
